Kilomètre 84, Jacques Perrin was made from images and sounds captured by an autonomous device: the black box of a car, impassive witness to a critical situation. A fixed shot unfolds the images of an accident; the passengers of the vehicle brush with death and its shadow will hover over the entire film. Then, other protagonists come into play, via telephone conversations recorded inside the cabin: the close family, the emergency services. All find themselves caught up in a sometimes chaotic soundtrack, while on the screen flows the banal flow of a holiday highway. The film writes itself, served by a present that suddenly seems to be crossed by a fictional electric arc. Reality is transposed into a double with tragicomic accents, where the human condition is revealed.
