This piece is inspired by the dance marathons held in the United States in the 1930s, where, in a context of extreme poverty, participants attracted by the lure of a modest sum were forced to dance non-stop, for hours, days and even months! By imagining the thoughts of dancers whose minds wander, Eugénie Andrin introduces a creative dance in contrast to the exhaustion of the bodies.

"This project, on the theme of dance marathons in 1930, seemed an obvious choice, following on from our previous work on Breathe, Breathe! (January 2023 at Espace Magnan). Whether infected by the dancing plague or lured by the lure of money, in both cases, ordinary people are forced to dance to the point of exhaustion. In these two proposals, too, dance is the main element, not a means of telling or expressing, but a role in its own right."
