Dans l’intimité des collections du Palais Lascaris
Exhibition
From 13 July 2024 to 10 March 2025
What happens behind the monumental gates of the Palais Lascaris when it's closed to the public?
Preventive conservation, restoration, proofreading... These activities carried out behind the scenes are often unknown to the public. But for this exhibition, the agents of the Palais Lascaris will be keen to share their passion, their favorite object, to show the public their daily life.
The exhibition “In the Intimacy of the Palais” is an invitation to explore 7,500 objects that make up the collections of the Palais Lascaris. It offers a unique opportunity to open the doors of the Palace, to discover the reserves and the places kept secret, usually inaccessible to the public. It’s also an opportunity to meet the team working behind the scenes, to discover their favorites and their profession.
Thanks to an “inverted” scenography, the Palais Lascaris will reveal itself in all its intimacy: how is an exhibition put together? What are the missions of a mediator, a museum director and a reception agent? Where is the documentation center?
In cabinets of curiosities, collectibles drawn from reserves will be highlighted. Finally, a gallery of portraits of the agents will allow you to get to know them, discover their mission and find their favorite object in the Palace!
The highlight of the visit, for the first time, the public will have the opportunity to enter the well-guarded reserves! Visits - by reservation - will be offered occasionally. Enough to arouse the public's curiosity and lift the veil on the mysteries that inhabit the Palace.
