Located at the heart of Vieux Nice, Cours Saleya is an essential living space, known for its iconic flower market, as well as the sunny terraces of the bars and restaurants which surround it.
Formerly a festive hub for social life, Cours Saleya is one of the most famous places in the Côte d'Azur. In the second half of the 19th century it was here that the floats of the Carnaval de Nice paraded, since moved to the Promenade des Anglais, then to Place Masséna. Today, this iconic place is vibrant from the morning to the evening. Particularly known for its flower market, it also hosts other stalls of fruit and vegetables, local handicrafts as well as many gourmet specialities. Thanks to its colours, flavours and scents, it is ranked among France's 100 most picturesque markets.
On Mondays, it gives way to an antiques market. In summer, an evening arts and crafts market moves in and enlivens holidaymakers' evenings. Cours Saleya is also a living space with its traditional produce shops as well as its restaurants and bars which extend onto huge sunny terraces. And to observe all this at a single glance, do not hesitate to climb to the top of the stairs at Les Ponchettes, opposite Place Pierre Gaultier, to enjoy a panoramic view over all this vitality.

Cours Saleya is a favourite leisure place for the people of Nice. Located near the gates to old city and protected from the sea breeze by the row houses of Les Ponchettes, this large square hosts the fruit and vegetable market every morning, along with the famous flower market, reputedly one of the most picturesque in france. The little shops nearby sell traditional local products. The restaurants specializing in seafood and local specialities, the brasseries and ice-cream shops on Cours saleya offer their terraces for extraordinary « dine arounds ». Opera sets, Italianate façades and baroque churches set the stage against the backdrop of the Castle Hill.
