A minor seminary (secondary school) was inaugurated in 1842, in this then isolated neighborhood.
In 1885, it had nearly 300 students. In 1931, the buildings became home to the major seminary (an establishment for training future priests). Recently, this building, one of the few in the area not to have been built to accommodate vacationers, has become a hotel in its turn.
