Nice Côte d’Azur joins the Global Destination Sustainability Index
March 25, 2022
As part of its commitment to sustainable tourism and to reducing the impact of its activities, OTM has joined the international Global Destination Sustainability (GDS) Index -2022.
This membership allows the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolitan Convention & Visitors Bureau to be part of a “benchmarking, improvement and recognition of the sustainability strategy, performance and regeneration of destinations”. The aim is to position Nice Côte d’Azur as a benchmark destination in terms of sustainability.
By joining the GDS Index, Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolitan Convention & Visitors Bureau is committed to improving its actions in terms of responsibility, to supporting tourism professionals in its territory in their sustainable transition, to integrating the 2026, 2030, 2050 objectives of the “Plan Climat Air Energie Territorial” of the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis and to raising visitors’ awareness of this approach.
To achieve its ambitious objectives, Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolitan Convention & Visitors Bureau has hired a CSR referent. This person is responsible for carrying out an evaluation within the various departments, but also for developing a sustainable responsibility strategy to achieve the goal of being exemplary. He or she will therefore have to build a responsible organisation specific to OTM and improve the ethics of each of the actions undertaken.
Through the global environmental, societal and economic issues, the voluntary approach of joining the GDS Index programme translates the strong commitments of Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolitan Convention & Visitors Bureau to the implementation of concrete actions on a daily basis. The monitoring of performance indicators will also enable it to compare the effectiveness of its CSR policy with its peers and to position Nice Côte d’Azur as a growing French destination on the international scene of sustainability and regenerative tourism.
